FSWS Launches Awareness Project ‘Naf Min Jien!’

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS) has launched ‘Naf Min Jien!’, a moving music video inspired by the real stories of children who have experienced abuse or trauma. Written by Dr Kevin Borg, FSWS’ Consultant Community Paediatrician, the song captures the emotional journey of children who must leave their birth parents and enter alternative care. It explores their confusion and pain while delivering a message of hope and healing through care, stability and love.

The project is a heartfelt tribute to the foster carers and professionals who dedicate themselves to supporting these children every day. Their compassion and commitment make it possible for young lives affected by hardship to rebuild and thrive.

Currently, around 450 minors in Malta and Gozo are living in alternative care due to experiences of trauma or abuse. ‘Naf Min Jien!’ highlights both their resilience and the vital role of those who protect and nurture them.

Through this initiative, FSWS aims to raise awareness about the importance of fostering and to encourage more people to open their hearts and homes to children in need of a safe and loving environment.
