From Best Food To Best Service: Meet Malta’s Award-Winning Dining Spots 2025

The local culinary scene was celebrated in style this year as The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants announced its highly anticipated awards, recognising excellence across Malta and Gozo’s vibrant dining landscape.
de Mondion claimed the Best Food Award, sponsored by American Express, while Bahia earned top honours for Best Ambience, supported by Bookia & Tableo.
Sole by Tarragon secured the title of Best Service, further solidifying its reputation for refined hospitality.
A strong emphasis on local produce was highlighted through three Malta Food Agency–sponsored awards: Il-Kartell was named Restaurant Most Dedicated to Supporting Local, Sole by Tarragon won Best Local Fish Restaurant, and Country Terrace received Best Local Wine List.
Gozo’s dining excellence shone through with Ta’ Tona being awarded Best Restaurant in Gozo, sponsored by the Ministry for Gozo.
Culinary mastery was recognised as Sandro Vella received The Best Chef Award, while Trattoria da Manuele was celebrated as Best Newcomer.
Don Royale took home the title of Most Children-Friendly Restaurant, and Gululu was honoured as Best Maltese Restaurant.
Caviar & Bull secured two prestigious titles: Restaurant Most Popular for Business Entertainment, sponsored by Rummo, and Restaurant Most Popular for Romantic Dining, sponsored by Victor Azzopardi Jewellers.
Village Fork was recognised for Best Value for Money, and Busy Bee Mriehel was named Favourite Café.
Emerging talent was highlighted with Kimberley Ellul awarded Most Promising Young Chef of the Year, and Hosea Tabone named Most Promising F&B Maitre of the Year.
Finally, the People’s Choice Wine List Award went to Country Terrace, reaffirming its popularity among diners.
