French Teen Seriously Injured After Fall at Riviera Bay

Earlier today, at around midday, police were alerted to an incident in the area of Għar ta’ Santa Marija, near Riviera Bay, within the limits of Mġarr. Reports indicated that a man had fallen and was in need of urgent assistance.

Police officers immediately went to the site, where they requested further support from the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM), a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital, and members of the Civil Protection Department.

A joint rescue operation was launched, with both a patrol boat and a helicopter deployed to the scene. The casualty, identified as an 18-year-old French national, was lifted to safety and transported to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. He was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D was informed of the case and has opened a magisterial inquiry. Police investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
