Francesca Attard has officially presented her final news bulletin, tearfully announcing the final day during last night’s report.

‘I thought I was prepared for this moment, until I reached the point of saying my final words. I felt a lump in my throat, because at that moment, standing there, all the memories from these past five years came rushing back’, she wrote.

‘Like the first time I stepped through the doors of PBS for my interview, convinced that I would not be chosen; my first morning on the ferry to get to work, feeling so proud that I had started working at PBS; the first time I began reading the news, excited, nervous and at the same time unable to believe that I, a girl from Gozo who had always watched the news with my family during lunch, was about to be the one delivering it.’

‘All the interviews I carried out, all the places I visited, the people I met, the trips I took, the moments of joy I experienced, the lessons I learned, the challenges that helped me grow, the colleagues I spent long days with, the jokes we shared and all the little things that became part of my life.’

She thanked everyone who supported her, everyone who watched and everyone who met her through her work.

‘Although today I am closing a chapter that was very close to my heart, I know there are still many beautiful things waiting for me. For now, I will treasure every memory from these five years and look ahead with great excitement to what comes next.’
