A €250,000 project to improve an alleyway in Triq il-Għajn, Fontana, has been inaugurated by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri and Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli.

The project focused on upgrading the area while addressing rainwater management, particularly through the installation of an underground drainage system.

Fontana Mayor Thomas Mizzi explained that rainwater previously flowed along the surface of the alleyway, but now passes through underground channels, helping reduce potential risks to residents.

The works also included the installation of railings, the construction of new and additional steps, and the painting and cleaning of walls.

The project was designed to complement the traditional features of the surrounding Maltese houses while preserving the historic character of the alleyway.

Minister Camilleri said the project had evolved from an initial beautification initiative into an important infrastructure intervention, while Minister Zerafa Civelli highlighted the Government's continued investment in improving local communities.
