Fish Fest Returns On The 19th And 20th Of September

The Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, has announced that this year’s Fish Fest will be celebrated over two days, on 19 and 20 September, in Mellieħa and Marsaxlokk.
Building on the success of previous editions, the festival aims to showcase Malta’s fishing sector, honour the dedication of fishermen, and promote awareness of sustainable fishing and maritime heritage.

Fresh Maltese fish, maritime culture and community spirit will take centre stage. The event will include food stalls specialising in fish, educational activities, live music, Maltese crafts, children’s entertainment and fundraising for charity.
“Mellieħa and Marsaxlokk are two localities long associated with fishing. Once again we are giving fishermen space to share their work with the public while providing the community with an educational and entertaining experience,” said Alicia Bugeja Said.
She thanked the Ministry’s events department, the Malta Food Agency, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and local organisations for their collaboration.

Fish Fest 2025 will also see Aquatic Resources Malta opening Fort San Luċjan to visitors on 20 September, with guided tours offered every hour from 6:15pm to 9:15pm. Free transport will connect the seafront festivities to the fort.
Both events begin at 6:00pm and are expected to draw large crowds.
