Fish Fest Will Return This Year For Two Days In Mellieħa And Marsaxlokk

The Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, has announced that Fish Fest will return this year for two days, on 19th and 20th September, in Mellieħa and Marsaxlokk.
Fish Fest aims to celebrate Malta’s fishing sector and support the hardworking fishermen who spend long hours at sea, often away from their families. The festival also seeks to raise awareness about sustainable fishing and Malta’s maritime heritage.
This year’s event will put fresh Maltese fish, maritime culture, and local communities at its heart. Families can enjoy two days of entertainment, including fish-focused food stalls, live music, educational activities, Maltese crafts, and a dedicated children’s area. Funds raised will be donated to charity.
Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said commented, “Mellieħa and Marsaxlokk are localities with a long history of fishing across generations. Fish Fest provides our fishermen with the opportunity to share their work with the public, while offering a fun and educational experience for the entire community.”
Estelle Sant, Director of Support Services at the Ministry for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, added, “Fish Fest 2025 honours Maltese and Gozitan fishermen, who tirelessly provide fresh and delicious produce every day. We invite everyone to join these two days of family-friendly activities.”
Justin John Camilleri, Chief Business Development Officer at the Malta Food Agency, said, “Our agency is proud to contribute to Fish Fest, a key event promoting local fish, celebrating fishermen’s work, and educating consumers about the benefits of choosing Maltese fish.”

Aquatic Resources Malta will also take part in this year’s festival. On Saturday, 20th September, during the Marsaxlokk event, the gates of Fort San Luċjan will be open to the public for guided tours of research facilities studying different aquatic species. Tours will take place hourly from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., with groups limited to 30 people. Free transport will be provided to and from the Marsaxlokk seafront for visitors.
Fish Fest will take place on Friday, 19th September in Mellieħa, and on Saturday, 20th September in Marsaxlokk, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Will you be there?
