FIRST LOOK AT PN’S PROPOSED NATIONAL HEALTH PARK IN SELMUN

The Nationalist Party have release further information on their proposed National Health Park, a key element of their overall healthcare proposals.
It represents a major shift in Malta’s approach to healthcare, placing prevention and recovery at the centre of the system rather than focusing primarily on treatment.
Planned for Selmun and Fort Campbell, the project aims to transform these areas into a modern, accessible space dedicated to improving quality of life through healthier living. The National Health Park is designed to support individuals before, during, and after illness, offering services such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy pools, specialist rehabilitation facilities, and a 60-bed inpatient unit. Outdoor amenities, including walking trails and fitness zones, will further promote active lifestyles.
A defining feature of the Park is its integrated approach, combining physical and mental healthcare in one setting. It will also include early screening programmes, continuous monitoring of chronic conditions, and personalised lifestyle support. Educational initiatives targeting families, schools, and workplaces will aim to encourage long-term healthy habits.
The Park is intended to complement existing healthcare services by acting as a continuation of care beyond hospital treatment. By reducing reliance on hospital stays and easing pressure on Mater Dei Hospital, it introduces a more proactive and sustainable healthcare model focused on prevention, rehabilitation, and overall wellbeing.
