Fines On Spot For Tourists/Foreigners For Littering, Excessive Noise Proposed

Local
In a video message shared to social media, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri revealed that the Ministry is considering an on-the-spot fine for tourists who conduct anti-social behaviour.
These illegalities could include littering, excessive noise and bothering neighbour, and they would have to pay the contravention on the spot.
This, the minister explained, so that they cannot leave the country and avoid paying the fine. The proposal increases the deterrent from committing such illegalities whilst still keeping Malta a country they could visit to enjoy responsibly.
