Fines Issued After Mellieħa Site Irregularities Reported

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) have issued a statement regarding a video circulating in the media showing a development site in Mellieħa.
The authorities said that inspections had been carried out at the site in recent months, during which the developer was given clear instructions regarding the removal of material from the common parts of the building.
Following a complaint from affected third parties in recent days, BCA officials returned to the site and found that material had once again been left in the common areas.
They also noted that the developer had failed to comply with requirements relating to water protection measures for openings.
The BCA said that immediate fines were issued in connection with the identified irregularities and that the developer was ordered to remove the material, close all openings and carry out the necessary cleaning works.
The authorities also reminded the public that the 138 Helpline is available for matters related to health and safety and construction.
