Final Preparations Underway For Notte Bianca 2026

Valletta will once again become a centre for arts and culture on Saturday, 3 October, as Notte Bianca 2026 brings more than 50 multidisciplinary projects to the capital.

Minister for Arts, Culture and National Heritage Malcolm Paul Agius Galea announced the final details of this year’s edition, which will feature music, dance, theatre, visual arts and other forms of artistic expression. More than 70% of the projects included in the programme are new and were created specifically for Notte Bianca.

The event will take place across four main areas of Valletta: the City Entrance, Castille Area, Hastings Area and St George’s Area. The evening will conclude in St George’s Square with “Minn Malta”, a concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra celebrating Maltese music.

Agius Galea said Notte Bianca reflects the Government’s aim of bringing culture closer to the public while creating opportunities for Maltese artists to showcase their creativity. He said Valletta will once again become an open stage where families and visitors can experience different forms of cultural expression.

Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra encouraged the public to attend the event, describing this year’s programme as one featuring a wide range of artistic projects. Festivals Malta CEO Frans Agius highlighted the months of preparation involved, including the work of organisers, collaborators, professional companies and the disciplined forces.

Artistic Directors Rodney Camilleri Gauci, Yanis Azzopardi and Daniel Cauchi said Maltese artists remain at the heart of this year’s programme, with every project involving local creative talent.

Several transport services will be extended for the event. The Gozo Fast Ferry’s final trips will depart at 1:30am from Mġarr and 1:45am from Valletta, while Valletta Ferry Services will operate until 2am.

Valletta will close to vehicles after 4:30pm, with residents allowed access upon presentation of their identity card. The public is encouraged to use public transport and plan their journey in advance.
