The Siġġiewi Local Council is set to host the 2025 Festa Għeneb, a lively celebration of the village’s grape harvest, viticulture, and rich cultural heritage. The festival takes place on Saturday, 13th September, from 6pm at Pjazza San Nikola.

Visitors can enjoy a Grape Exhibition showcasing local grape varieties, an agricultural machinery display, a homemade wine competition, and wine tasting sessions paired with traditional Maltese food. A live cooking demonstration, ‘Fil-Kċina mas-Sindku’, will feature the Mayor and children from the Local Children’s Council preparing seasonal, local recipes.

The festival also highlights history and spirituality with the ‘Frott il-Fidi’ exhibition, displaying rare 17th-century religious vestments linked to the Knights of Malta, who influenced Siġġiewi’s viticulture. Artisanal products from Sicily and Spain will be available, alongside a baroque parade and salt design exhibition by Infiorata di Noto.

Entertainment zones will feature varied music, Maltese folk music, and traditional għana, with activities for all ages. The event is supported by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and VisitMalta.

Mayor Julian Borg said, “The Grape Festival in Siġġiewi celebrates more than our fruit it honours our heritage, faith, and the community spirit that unites us.”
