The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, through the Agency for Rural Agricultural Payments (ARPA), is inviting farmers to submit requests for land transfers and registration in order to qualify for financial assistance.

The annual application period is now open and will remain available until 26 September 2025.

During this period, farmers can carry out several procedures, including transferring land ownership, registering their land to be included in land-based aid schemes, applying changes to land-use so that previously ineligible plots can receive support, and enrolling land under Environmental, Climate-related and other Management Commitments (AECCs).

These measures form part of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023–2027.

Minister Anton Refalo stressed that this initiative is designed to help Maltese and Gozitan farmers adapt to both European and local agricultural requirements, while ensuring the sector remains competitive and sustainable.

He highlighted that through this scheme, Malta stands to benefit from an investment of up to €3.5 million in European funds, which will be channelled directly to the farming community.

Minister Refalo stated that these funds will help farmers “earn their bread with dignity, while looking forward to a more sustainable future for agriculture.”

He also expressed gratitude to farmers for their ongoing commitment and emphasised the Government’s determination to safeguard agriculture as a pillar of identity, tradition, and sustainability.

Farmers can submit applications at the ARPA Front Office in Pitkalija or at the Gozo Office at the Government Experimental Farm.
