Fajtata Garden In Marsaskala Officially Inaugurated

The Fajtata Garden in Marsaskala has officially been inaugurated following extensive regeneration works aimed at creating a more modern, accessible and family friendly open space for residents and visitors.
The project forms part of a wider programme of infrastructural investment currently being carried out in the locality by the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works.
Located just a short distance from St Thomas Bay, the regenerated garden complements other ongoing projects in the area, including works along the bay and the continued regeneration of sections of the Marsaskala promenade.

The initiative reflects broader efforts to improve public spaces and enhance the overall environment within the locality.
Over recent months, the area underwent a significant transformation, with improvements made throughout the garden. These included the installation of new play structures and shaded canopies within the children’s play area, together with new benches, tables and additional street furniture.
The public toilets were also fully refurbished, while upgraded lighting systems and railings were introduced to strengthen safety and improve the experience of visitors.
Additional works included the rebuilding of pathways, the planting of new trees and shrubs, and the installation of a modern irrigation system to maintain the garden throughout the year.
A new accessibility ramp was also constructed to provide safer and easier access to the rocky shoreline for persons with disabilities. Works were also carried out in the upper parking area using materials that better complement the surrounding natural landscape.
Chris Bonett described the project as part of a wider vision for Wied il-Għajn, aimed at continuing to improve the locality while creating more attractive and sustainable public spaces for the community.
