Malta is set to endure another spell of intense summer heat this week, with temperatures remaining well above seasonal averages and a heat warning currently in force until Tuesday, 21st July.

Forecasts indicate hot and sunny conditions every day, with daytime highs reaching 41°C on Tuesday and 42°C on both Monday and Wednesday.

However, it will feel even hotter, with apparent temperatures climbing to 43°C on Monday and Wednesday and 42°C on Tuesday.

Overnight temperatures will offer little relief, remaining around 27°C, while generally light northwesterly to west-northwesterly winds are expected throughout the period.

The UV index will remain at an extreme 10, making sun protection essential during peak daylight hours.

Although the official heat warning is due to expire on Tuesday, many are expecting it to be extended into Wednesday as the oppressive heat shows little sign of easing.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and check on vulnerable family members and neighbours.
