Everything You Need To Know About The New Park Tal-Mitħna!

What was once an abandoned quarry filled with construction waste has officially been transformed into a brand-new green space for families, children and even their four-legged friends!

Park tal-Mitħna, located between Mqabba and Qrendi, has opened following a €2 million regeneration project, turning a neglected area into a 7,000-square-metre recreational park.
For years, the site was used as a dumping ground, with approximately 20,000 cubic metres of construction waste and debris having to be removed to make way for the transformation.

And the difference is impressive!
The new park features a variety of attractions for visitors of all ages, including:
A dedicated dog park for your furry friends.
Natural play areas where children can explore and have fun.
A ping-pong table for some friendly competition.
Cycling paths for those who enjoy riding their bikes.

A reading corner for anyone looking to relax outdoors.
An interactive bug and bee hotel, helping children learn about nature.
Public toilet facilities.
But that's not all!
The project has also introduced 300 new trees and more than 3,200 shrubs, replacing what was once a landscape dominated by construction debris.
An underground reservoir has also been installed to collect rainwater, which can then be reused to water the park's greenery.

Environment Minister Miriam Dalli inaugurated the park, highlighting how neglected land can be given a completely new purpose for the benefit of local communities.
The €2 million project was supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

From an abandoned quarry to a family-friendly green space, Park tal-Mitħna is now another outdoor destination for residents in the south of Malta.
