European Parliament President Roberta Metsola Pays Tribute To Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has paid tribute to tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who announced his retirement from the sport after years of domination.

In a post she stated that Europe and the world pays tribute to Nadal, as he plays his final ever match next month, representing Spain at the Davis Cup finals in Malaga.

Metsola also thanked Nadal for inspiring millions of young girls and boys to be the best that they can be.

In a video message released on Thursday, Rafael Nadal announced his retirement from professional tennis, saying, “I am here to let you know I am retiring from professional tennis.”

He acknowledged the challenges of recent years, stating, “The reality is that it has been some difficult years, especially the last two. I don’t think I have been able to play without limitations.”

Nadal steps away from the sport as the second-most successful men’s singles player in history, trailing only his long-time rival Novak Djokovic.
