European Council Summit Concludes As PM Returns For Parliament Reopening

Prime Minister Robert Abela is heading back to Malta after what he described as successful European Council Summit negotiations in Brussels.
This morning will see the reopening of the Maltese parliament, officially launching the new legislature.
Speaking about the summit, Abela said that the Malta took a firm stance on the importance of cohesion policy and the achievement of a balance that reflects the realities and challenges of every member state.
During the meeting, leaders had the opportunity to discuss the progress made under the Cypriot Presidency in negotiations on the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework, better known as the EU’s long-term Budget.
In Brussels, Prime Minister Robert Abela also took part in a coordination meeting on migration alongside fourteen other Member States and the European Commission.
Leaders also discussed the Middle East, against the backdrop of fluid developments in peace talks between the United States and Iran.
Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which remains unacceptable, noting that access to humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians remain key principles of international law.
