€730K Grant o Caritas For Project Supporting Women Overcoming Drug Dependence

Minister for Social and Affordable Housing Roderick Galdes visited a building project in Naxxar being carried out by the Caritas Foundation, supported by a €730,000 grant from the Housing Authority as part of its specialised housing initiative.
The project aims to provide safe and dignified accommodation for women who have completed rehabilitation from drug or substance dependence but still require guidance and a stable environment to achieve lasting change in their lives.
Caritas will manage both the building and all associated services.
While inspecting the progress of the works with Caritas Director Anthony Gatt, Minister Galdes highlighted the collaboration between government institutions and the voluntary sector, describing the project as a model of how the two can complement each other.

He emphasised that working closely with Caritas helps develop social infrastructure that supports individuals as they take steps towards social integration.
Anthony Gatt thanked the Housing Authority for its support, noting that the project provides vital assistance to help rehabilitated individuals regain stability and independence.
The accommodation will be available on a temporary basis, from six months up to two years depending on individual needs, allowing residents to reintegrate into society with confidence.
The scheme prioritises women, women with children, and young people, combining housing with aftercare services to ensure a secure foundation for a new start in life.
