€70,000 Of Ketamine Discovered In Woman’s Luggage During Malta Airport Investigation

A 26-year-old Colombian woman has been arrested at Malta International Airport after authorities allegedly discovered more than half a kilogram of suspected ketamine in her luggage, with an estimated street value of €70,000.
The arrest followed a joint operation involving the Malta Police Force, the Customs Department, and Spanish and Colombian authorities.
Police said information gathered during the investigation suggested the woman was travelling from Spain to Malta and was suspected of having links to a criminal drug trafficking network.
After receiving information that she would arrive on a flight from Madrid last Saturday, officers carried out inspections on passengers arriving on the flight and allegedly discovered two large blocks and one smaller package of ketamine inside the woman’s suitcase.
Magistrate Dr Renata Farrugia was informed of the case and opened an inquiry, appointing several experts to assist with the investigation.
The woman is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.
