An investment of around €6 million is set to further enhance inclusive education through a new project at Santa Clara College, San Miguel Primary School in Pembroke. Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima highlighted the initiative during a site visit, describing it as a project that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.

The centre will include a hydrotherapy pool, an important therapeutic tool supporting children’s physical, sensory and emotional development, while also providing a safe environment for learning and activity.

Works are currently underway on a new sensory hydrotherapy pool and jacuzzi, being carried out by the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools.

The development forms part of a new 557 square metre facility designed to improve educational and therapeutic services for children with individual learning needs. The building will be accessible from the existing school as well as through a separate entrance for independent use outside school hours.

San Miguel Resource Centre already provides full-time education to more than 20 students aged between three and eleven, while offering services to around 60 students from state, Church and independent schools.

The new facility will accommodate up to 16 people at a time and include sanitary facilities, equipped showers, a first aid room and multipurpose spaces.

The project forms part of Malta Vision 2050. For more information, visit www.education.gov.mt
