€300 Grant For Youth To Buy Smart Watch, Proposes Alex Borg
Local

In a series of new proposals by the Nationalist Party, leader Alex Borg has put forward a €300 grant for youths aged between 15 and 24 to purchase a smartwatch as part of a Fit4Life scheme aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.

The initiative is designed as a modern preventive measure targeting young people, encouraging more walking, training, sport and physical activity in an effort to address obesity, inactivity and avoidable illnesses.

The smartwatch would be linked to a voucher system, allowing participants who meet set physical activity targets to access rewards.

Borg also proposed vouchers that could be used to purchase sports equipment, attend fitness classes, sign up to gym memberships and take part in other activities linked to a healthier way of life.

According to the proposal, the scheme is intended as a step towards a more active, healthier and more health-conscious generation.

It would operate on a voluntary basis, focusing on prevention and incentives rather than surveillance, with any data collected to be used in a secure, limited and transparent manner in line with data protection rules.
