€27 Million In Social Benefits To Reach 62,400 Families This Weekend

Around 62,400 families across Malta will receive nearly €27 million in social benefit payments this weekend, covering the third quarter of the year from July to September.

The largest share of the investment, amounting to almost €20 million, will go towards Children's Allowance payments and additional supplements for 42,400 families with nearly 63,000 children. The payments form part of revised rates introduced in the latest Budget to provide greater support to low and middle-income households.

Families entitled to the highest Children's Allowance rate now receive up to €2,330 per child annually, while even those on the lowest rate receive close to €1,100 per child each year.

A further €1.3 million will be distributed through the Disability Children's Allowance, benefiting more than 2,100 families. Meanwhile, almost 20,000 households will share €5.4 million in improved Supplementary Allowance payments.

Social Policy and Family Minister Michael Falzon said the measures reflect the Government's continued commitment to supporting Maltese families amid global uncertainty.
