€2 Million Green Park Officially Inaugurated Between Qrendi & Mqabba

What was once an abandoned quarry and illegal dumping ground has officially been transformed into a beautiful new green space for families to enjoy.
Environment Minister Miriam Dalli inaugurated Tal-Mitħna Park, a 7,000-square-metre recreational area bordering Qrendi and Mqabba, following a €2 million regeneration project.
For years, the site was used as a dumping ground for construction waste, with approximately 20,000 cubic metres of waste and debris removed before the transformation could begin.
Today, the former quarry is home to 300 newly planted trees and more than 3,200 shrubs, giving the area a completely new lease of life.

The park has been designed with families and children in mind, featuring nature-inspired play areas, a dog park, a reading corner, a ping-pong table and an interactive bug and bee hotel.
These attractions aim to encourage children to spend more time outdoors, explore nature and develop their imagination through play.
Sustainability has also been incorporated into the project, with an underground reservoir collecting rainwater that can be reused to irrigate the park.
Minister Dalli described the transformation as another example of the Government's commitment to turning neglected land into accessible green spaces that benefit local communities.
Taking to social media, she highlighted how an area previously filled with construction waste is now open for everyone to enjoy, including a dedicated space for dogs.
She also encouraged families to visit the new park and make the most of its facilities.
The €2 million project was carried out with support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), giving residents in the south of Malta another outdoor space where they can relax, play and connect with nature.
