€2 Coin 'Maltese Bee' Classified Third Most Beautiful €2 Coin Of The Year

The Central Bank of Malta has secured two third-place rankings at the prestigious ‘Les Amis De L’Euro’ awards held during the International Coin Fair in Berlin between 29th and 31st of January 2026.

The Commemorative €2 coin ‘Maltese Bee’ was classified as the third most beautiful €2 coin of the year.

The same coin had ranked first at the same event last year in the European Denomination of the Year award, further consolidating its international recognition.

Meanwhile, the €5 ‘Maltese Ox’ coin placed third in the European Denomination of the Year award.

The Central Bank described it as a great honour to claim multiple awards simultaneously at the same event, particularly with the ‘Maltese Bee’ design, which has now won three awards to date.

The Bank said the achievement reflects the excellent craftsmanship of the designers and engravers it engages, as well as the dedication and meticulous process undertaken by its staff in selecting coin themes and finalising designs.

The recognition in Berlin further highlights Malta’s growing reputation for quality and artistic excellence in numismatic design.
