€1.56 Million Raised for Dar tal-Providenza During New Year Marathon

The annual New Year’s Day fundraising marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza raised a total of €1.56 million, once again highlighting the strong public support for the Siġġiewi-based residence.
The 12-hour Festa ta’ Ġenerożità began at 9.30am on Thursday and concluded at midnight, collecting €1,556,453, around €16,000 more than the amount raised last year. The event was broadcast across local television stations and aimed to support the home, which requires more than €7 million annually to continue operating.
Proceedings opened with a mass celebrated by Archbishop Charles Scicluna in the home’s chapel. Throughout the day, donations poured in from across Malta and Gozo, with parish collections in Gozo alone raising over €41,000. Art auctions featuring works donated by Maltese and international artists generated more than €49,000, while the government contributed €25,000.
Dar tal-Providenza provides long-term care for over 150 people with disabilities and also runs four community homes in Siġġiewi, Qawra, Birkirkara and Żurrieq. The funds raised will help ensure the continuation of essential services offered to residents throughout the year.
The final total once again confirmed the enduring generosity of the Maltese public and their commitment to supporting one of the country’s most important social institutions.
