€1.24 MILLION INVESTMENT FOR 32 ARTISTIC AND THEATRE PROJECTS

Thirty-two artistic and theatre projects will receive a combined investment of €1.24 million through funding schemes administered by the Malta Council for the Arts on behalf of the Ministry for Arts, Culture and National Heritage.

A total of 23 applicants will receive €800,000 through the Arts Support Scheme, while nine applicants will benefit from €440,000 through the newly launched Theatre Productions Support Scheme.

The funding aims to support the development and presentation of high-quality artistic work while improving public access to diverse cultural experiences. The Arts Support Scheme covers areas including artistic creation, cultural programming, documentation, community-based projects and initiatives designed to make the arts more accessible.

Introduced this year, the Theatre Productions Support Scheme provides funding for the research, development and production of new and original theatrical works, supporting producers throughout the creative process.

Arts, Culture and National Heritage Minister Malcolm Paul Agius Galea said the investment reflects the national importance being given to culture and will provide artists and cultural professionals with the resources needed to develop their work and reach wider audiences.

Malta Council for the Arts Executive Chair Dr Luke Dalli said the strong response to both schemes demonstrated the talent and potential within Malta’s cultural and creative sectors.

The investment forms part of the Council’s revised funding structure introduced in 2026.
