ERA Reminds Public Of €150 Fine If Caught Smoking At Golden Bay And Ramla l-Ħamra

The Environment and Resources Authority reminds the public that a €150 fine will be enforced if anyone is caught smoking at Golden Bay or Ramla l-Ħamra.
This new legislation was announced last year by Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, and former Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela, during the closing of the Saving Our Blue Summer Edition campaign.
Within these beaches, smoking will only be allowed within designated areas which will be equipped with regularly-cleaned ashtrays.
Enforcement will be carried out jointly by the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA), the Health Department, the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), LESA, and the Malta Police Force, with fines of €150 for violations.
The legislation has been in place since January 1st 2026, however with summer round the corner, a public reminder is beneficial.
