Equality Minister Responds After Homophobic Comments Flood Pride Announcement

After the announcement for Malta Pride, a number of homophobic responses flooded the comment section, criticising the need for such events.
A Maltese resident who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community took to social media to express her shock at all the homophobia.
"We live somewhere that has made incredible progress. We love Malta so much! But we're not going to become complacent just because the law got there before everyone's attitudes did," she explained.
Minister for Equality and Civil Rights Rosianne Cutajar also commented on the situation, stating that this situation "helps you understand why pride is still so important."
"Equality is not a sector where we can stay comfortable and say we've done enough," continued Cutajar, "It is dynamic work where you need to keep responding to the realities of the day and the experiences of people."
"Pride remains important," emphasised Rosianne Cutajar.
