EP President Roberta Metsola Urges Swift EU Law Reform To Safeguard Europe's Economic Future

In an exclusive interview with Euronews at the EU Leaders' Retreat,Roberta Metsola, European Parliament President, called for immediate legislative action to secure Europe’s economic future.

“This is the year where we no longer say we might do it next year. We need to vote this year," President Metsola stated.

”2026 must be the year we make Europe easier for you to invest, grow, innovate, and scale up,” she continued.

The President demanded a "full commitment" to the Capital Markets, Banking, Savings and Investments, and Energy Unions.

She emphasised that these initiatives must translate into tangible benefits for every company, family, and person; specifically to help lower costs and bills.

Metsola warned of a "narrow window of opportunity" to boost competitiveness and prevent European industries from being squeezed by global rivals.
