More than 3,300 students are set to benefit from a year of free internet through a €300 voucher, as the Government continues to invest in education and digital accessibility.

The scheme is aimed at students who are eligible for stipend and are beginning post-secondary education for the first time during the 2025/2026 academic year. This includes students enrolling at Junior College, Higher Secondary, MCAST, the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) and other recognised institutions.

The initiative is designed to reduce the financial burden on families while ensuring students have reliable internet access for learning, research, communication and developing essential digital skills.

Education Minister Byron Camilleri described the scheme as a direct investment in students and their future, stressing that internet access is no longer a luxury but a necessity in an increasingly digital world. He said the Government remains committed to giving every student equal opportunities to succeed and reach their full potential.

First introduced in 2021, the initiative has already benefited more than 9,200 students. This year alone, the Government is investing over €1 million in the scheme.

Eligible students have already begun receiving emails inviting them to choose their preferred internet provider. Vouchers will be issued from mid-July and can be redeemed until 30 September 2026.
