Electric Kick Scooter Catches Fire in Mtarfa

Firefighters from the Civil Protection Department were called to Mtarfa this morning after a fire broke out inside a semi-basement garage.
According to the Civil Protection Department, crews from Fire Station 4 responded to the incident and were forced to gain entry to the garage after immediate access could not be obtained.
Once inside, firefighters discovered that an electric kick scooter had caught fire.
The burning scooter was safely removed from the garage before firefighters extinguished the blaze using water, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the property.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Officers from the Malta Police Force's District 10, together with a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital, also responded to the scene to assist.
The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
The incident serves as a reminder of the potential fire risks associated with lithium-ion battery-powered devices if they malfunction or become damaged.
