‘Ekonomija B’Saħħitha, Futur Għal Uliedna’: This Year’s Budget Theme

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced this year’s Budget slogan, “Ekonomija b’saħħitha, futur għal uliedna”, highlighting the government’s vision of a strong economy as the foundation for a better future.
Taking to social media, Abela stated: “Meta l-ekonomija tkun b’saħħitha, igawdu l-familji Maltin u Għawdxin. Dak li ksibna flimkien se jkun il-pedament tal-progress tal-futur. Għal Malta li toffri futur sabiħ lil uliedha.”
‘The Budget, which will be delivered by the Minister for Finance Clyde Caruana, will continue to invest in families, workers, youth and pensioners because the country has a strong economy, an economy that offers a future for our children.’
The announcement comes just days before the 2026 Budget is unveiled, following the publication of It-Twettiq tal-Baġit 2025 by Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana in the presence of Finance Minister Clyde Caruana and senior officials.
Sultana revealed that the implementation rate of the 2025 Budget has reached 86%, marking a 2% increase over the previous year. The Budget included 326 measures, with 62% dedicated to social priorities, 20% focused on environmental goals, and 18% aimed at economic development.
He credited the strong performance to coordinated work across government departments and the enhanced monitoring system within the Coordination and Implementation Division.
Finance Minister Clyde Caruana noted that Malta’s economy remains one of the most stable in Europe, boasting record employment and strong fiscal results, in contrast to other countries facing cuts and rising unemployment.
Caruana added that next week’s Budget will continue to support families and businesses, while reinforcing the foundations of a resilient national economy
