EDUCATION MINISTER BYRON CAMILLERI PRAISES MCAST FASHION STUDENTS AHEAD OF MALTA FASHION WEEK SHOW

Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri visited MCAST students who completed the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design ahead of their showcase at Malta Fashion Week 2026, where they presented their final collections.
During the visit, the Minister met with the students and followed their preparations before they presented their work on the professional runway, praising their creativity, skills, and the quality of vocational education being provided at MCAST.
Five students, Gillian Grech, Matthias Psaila, Selena Mallia, Mikaela Vella and Maria Pia Falzon, presented their collections as part of Malta Fashion Week. The initiative continues to strengthen the connection between education and the creative industry while providing students with valuable professional experience.
Camilleri said the opportunity demonstrates the importance of vocational education in helping students develop their potential and prepare for the world of work.
“At MCAST we are seeing education that goes beyond the classroom and prepares students for the workplace,” Camilleri said, highlighting the talent and dedication shown by the young designers.
Malta Fashion Week Founder and Executive Producer Adrian Mizzi said the event continues to support emerging talent by dedicating a day of the programme to MCAST Fashion Design graduates, allowing them to showcase their work on a professional platform.
Designer and tailor Isaac Fenech, who graduated from MCAST two years ago, also highlighted how the education and opportunities provided helped him develop his skills and pursue a professional career in the fashion industry.
Through its collaboration with MCAST, Malta Fashion Week provides students with mentoring, guidance, and the chance to experience the standards and processes of the fashion sector, helping prepare the next generation of creative professionals.
