€5,000 Presented To Four Who Helped Catch Sliema Cat Killer

The Real Animal Rights Foundation (RAR) has recognised the efforts of four individuals who played a crucial role in helping authorities identify and apprehend Okamura Satoshi, who is facing charges of animal cruelty.
On 23 August 2025, RAR President Moira Delia and Secretary Romina Frendo, together with Mix Markt Director Karina Zax and another company that wished to remain anonymous, presented a total of €5,000 to the contributors.
The recipients were Victoria Mamo and Stefano Galdes, residents of Sliema, as well as Isaac Caruana from Gzira and Gabriel Micallef from Naxxar.
These individuals either provided CCTV footage or actively assisted the police during the investigation, ensuring crucial evidence was gathered.
Satoshi was apprehended on 1 August at 3am while roaming the streets of Sliema carrying cat food and gloves, allegedly preparing to commit further acts of cruelty.
The earliest CCTV material obtained by the police dates back to May and June 2025.
Satoshi is currently awaiting sentencing, scheduled for 15 September.
