The Government continues to strengthen its collaboration with entities and NGOs that work closely with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

This was reflected in another social agreement signed between the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights and the Richmond Foundation, to continue providing social worker services to the Foundation’s clients.

Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon described these types of agreements as a way to acknowledge the social realities connected to mental health and to make a tangible difference through effective structures.

“Positive policy is one that gives hope, courage, and, in cases like these, is aimed at those who can live independently without the need for institutional care. We fully believe in inclusion and, therefore, will continue to invest in support services of this kind,” Minister Falzon stated.

This social agreement, with an investment exceeding €200,000, will lead to an increase in the number of Richmond Foundation apartments supported by social worker services to assist residents. Currently, there are more than 30 Foundation apartments, housing 67 individuals with various mental health challenges. These residences provide 24-hour attention, with social care professionals always ready to assist, particularly in cases where an individual feels agitated or experiences severe mental distress.

The Richmond Foundation works according to an individual care plan, regularly reviewed to ensure a holistic approach and effective service delivery.
