Duck Abandoned By Owner At Golden Bay Rescued & Fostered
Local

The Malta Ranger Unit rescued a duck which was dumped at Golden Bay by her owner.

The duck was rescued after the public alerted the rangers, who caught her and promptly found a fosterer to take her in.

She now lives with other ducks, has her own little pond of freshwater and is being fed nutritious feed with ‘a side of fresh fruit and veg daily.’

‘Violet is one of many abandoned ducks in our countryside’, explained the rangers. ‘Farm animals like her fall between the responsibilities of entities, and they are left to fend for themselves.’

‘Our Rangers do their best to save domestic and semi-domestic animals injured/lost, but we rely on knowledgeable fosterers to be available. We are at the moment looking for people to give good homes to, and help rehabilitate if need be, both ducks and pigeons.’
