With September bringing sudden showers and thunderstorms, here are a few things worth keeping in mind before heading out.

Wet roads mean less grip and longer braking distances. Roads can also become especially slippery after long dry periods, when oil and dirt sitting on the surface mix with the first rainfall.

Braking takes longer on wet roads, so giving yourself extra space between cars could make all the difference if traffic suddenly stops.

3.⁠ ⁠Turn Your Lights On

Heavy rain can reduce visibility, even during the day. Make sure other drivers can see you just as easily as you can see them.

4.⁠ ⁠Avoid Sudden Braking And Sharp Turns

Smooth driving is your friend. Sudden steering, acceleration or braking can cause your tyres to lose grip, especially where water has collected on the road.
