DR LYDIA ABELA INVITED TO WHITE HOUSE BY MELANIA TRUMP TO DISCUSS CHILDREN’S FUTURE IN DIGITAL ERA

On March 24–25, 2026, Dr Abela was invited by Melania Trump to attend a summit in Washington, D.C. called “Fostering the Future Together.” The event brought together 45 leaders from around the world to talk about how children can be supported through education and technology.
Being invited to the White House is a big deal, especially for a small country like Malta. It shows that Malta is being recognised and included in important global discussions. It also highlights trust in Dr Abela’s voice on issues that affect children today.
Dr Abela described the summit as a “fantastic opportunity” to speak about children growing up in a digital world. This is something many families can relate to, as kids today face both opportunities and risks online.
Melania Trump praised the leaders who attended, saying it was inspiring to see their commitment to working together for a better future for children.
This moment matters because it puts Malta in the room where important ideas are shared and shaped. But it should also lead to real action at home, better awareness, stronger education, and safer digital spaces for young people.
Dr Lydia Abela’s presence at the White House is not just symbolic. It shows that Malta has a role to play in shaping the future for the next generation.
