Dog Dies After Allegedly Being Denied Help At Vet

A pet owner has spoken out after the tragic death of his beloved Belgian Malinois, Ava, who passed away at just eight years old. He alleges that staff at Dr. Trevor Clinic in Attard failed to provide urgent care during a life-threatening incident.

According to the owner, Ava swallowed her Kong toy, causing a blocked airway. Efforts to remove the toy at home reportedly failed, leaving the dog in distress.

Emergency services were contacted, but attempts to reach an animal ambulance were allegedly unsuccessful.

The owner claims that his partner then contacted Dr. Trevor Clinic, informing them that a dog with a blocked airway was en route.

The clinic allegedly responded by stating they were closing at 10pm, despite being aware that Ava was in critical condition.

Upon arrival at the clinic around 9:30pm, the owner says he placed Ava into a treatment room, begging staff for urgent assistance. He alleges that three clinic employees refused to intervene, leaving Ava alive but in distress.

In desperation, the owner claims he personally removed the toy from Ava’s throat, but she passed away immediately afterwards. He attempted CPR, reportedly pleading for veterinary support, which he alleges was not provided until after she had died.

The grieving owner described Ava as more than a pet, calling her his “daughter, best friend and family,” and has urged other pet owners to be cautious when seeking care from the clinic.
