Do’s And Don’ts For Driving In Malta This Summer

As summer arrives in Malta, road users are being reminded to take extra care behind the wheel as higher temperatures, busier roads, and increased pedestrian activity create additional risks.
Drivers are encouraged to stay hydrated and avoid alcohol before driving, as dehydration can reduce concentration while alcohol impairs judgment and reaction times.
Motorists should also remain cautious of sun glare, especially during early mornings and late afternoons when bright sunlight can temporarily affect visibility.
With more tourists and increased foot traffic during the summer months, drivers are urged to watch carefully for pedestrians crossing roads.
LESA also advises against driving in flip-flops, as loose footwear can slip off, become trapped beneath pedals, or reduce vehicle control.
The public is further reminded never to use a mobile phone while driving, as distracted driving can have serious consequences for all road users.
Meanwhile, wearing a seatbelt remains one of the most effective ways to reduce serious injuries in the event of a collision.
“A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe on Malta’s roads this summer,” LESA said.
Drive responsibly. Arrive safely.
