Direct Flights Launched From Malta To New York Starting June 2026

Travellers will soon be able to fly directly between Malta and New York for the first time, as Delta Air Lines prepares to launch a new transatlantic route this summer.
According to the summer flight schedule released by Malta International Airport, the American carrier will operate three direct flights per week between Malta and New York City from June through October.
The service marks a historic milestone, with Delta becoming the first United States airline to offer direct flights to the island.
The new route is expected to significantly strengthen Malta’s connectivity with the United States, opening up easier travel for tourists, business travellers and the Maltese diaspora.
The announcement forms part of a wider expansion of Malta’s summer flight network, which includes new routes and increased frequencies across Europe.
Malta International Airport has already recorded a strong start to the year, with more than 658,000 passengers passing through the terminal in February alone.
Airport officials say the expanded schedule will further enhance Malta’s accessibility during the busy summer travel season.
Alongside the transatlantic addition, several other routes will be introduced or expanded across Europe.
Norway will launch a new connection to Billund in Denmark and increase flights to Oslo and Helsinki, while Ryanair will extend its service to Gothenburg into the summer season.
Air Baltic will double its flights to Tallinn, and Ryanair and WizzAir will continue operating direct services to Tirana.
New connections to the United Kingdom are also planned, with easyJet adding routes to Glasgow and Newcastle, and Jet2 introducing flights to London Gatwick.
