During last weekend’s Mużika Mużika 2026, Jasmine Abela’s ending note for her song ‘Nistaqsi’ was notably (no pun intended) very long. Specifically, around 13 seconds long.

This was a record that was established by Mary Spiteri with her Eurovision song ‘Little Child’ in 1992, and was announced later in 2014.

Despite the record being broken in 2021 by Moldova’s Natalia Gordienko with a whopping 17 second note, Jasmine’s feat here is still one that deserves all the attention.

Jasmine would have reached Mary Spiteri’s 13 second record in a completely different contest.

It’s no wonder that this song emerged victorious this past Saturday, with Jasmine going to become the 6th winner of the prestigious local competition.
