Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg Turns 40

Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg has marked his 40th birthday, celebrating the milestone with a heartfelt message shared on social media.
In a post published yesterday, Borg wrote: “Illum niċċelebraw il-birthday flimkien ❤️ Inħobbok Rachelle,” alongside a photo of himself and his wife, Rachelle. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2017, share one daughter, Eve.
Ian’s wife, Rachelle Borg Dingli, also celebrates her birthday on the 28th of February, sharing the special day with her husband, although she is younger than him.
Borg’s political career began at a young age. A lawyer by profession, he first entered Parliament in 2013 after contesting the general election on behalf of the Labour Party. His rise within government was swift. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds in 2013, where he oversaw the management and implementation of European funding programmes.
In 2017, Borg was appointed Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, a role that placed him at the helm of several major national infrastructure projects. Following the 2020 Cabinet reshuffle, he was entrusted with the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, representing Malta on key diplomatic platforms and international fora.
In 2022, Borg was appointed Deputy Prime Minister while continuing to serve as Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, further consolidating his role at the centre of Malta’s political leadership.
