Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize in New York Meeting

Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ian Borg, recently met with former U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, in New York, marking a significant moment in his ongoing efforts to promote international peace.

Reflecting on the meeting, Borg said, “Two weeks ago today, I met with President Trump and his wife in New York. As the person who led the OSCE in 2024, I worked with many individuals on the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, striving for the peace that was finally achieved this summer through the efforts of the American President.”

During the encounter, the Deputy Prime Minister presented Trump with a letter he had written personally, informing him that, like many others, he had nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. He also encouraged the former President to continue his work in addressing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Borg expressed satisfaction at the growing international commitment to peace, stating, “I am pleased to see greater commitment today that brings us closer to lasting peace.”
