Delicata Gran Cavalier Merlot Triumphs In Italy With Gold And Press Prize

Delicata Winery, Malta’s most award-winning winemaker, has secured two major international wine awards, thanks to its Merlot.

Delicata said, “We are proud to announce that Delicata Winery’s Gran Cavalier Merlot Riżerva D.O.K. Malta Superior 2023 has been awarded a Gold Medal and the prestigious Press Prize at the 2025 Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme competition in Bergamo, Italy.”

Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker is Malta’s most internationally awarded Maltese family-owned winery, producing over 30 different quality wines made from grapes grown in Malta and Gozo.

“Maltese wines by Delicata are gaining recognition from wine professionals and enthusiasts alike,” said Matthew Delicata, head winemaker. “This is a rare wine, produced in very limited quantities, yet it continues to earn international acclaim.”

The Gran Cavalier Merlot Riżerva impressed judges with its elegance, depth of fruit, and unmistakable Maltese character, earning the coveted Gold Medal. A panel of international wine journalists further recognised it with the Press Prize, awarded to the highest-scoring gold-medal winner from each participating country.
