Decomposing Horse & Neglected Animals Found On Gozo Site

An anonymous report led to the shocking discovery of a decomposing horse in the north of Gozo.

The report, passed to Rangers, alleged that several animals including sheep and chickens were roaming a site without food or water.

Concerns were also raised about a dead horse on the property, along with lactating sheep that had not been milked. Some of the sheep were found without the legally required ear tags.

Rangers immediately alerted Gozo Police, who identified the individual involved. To prevent any removal of evidence, they monitored the site from a distance before authorities intervened.

The Sergeant of Victoria Police Station, together with Animal Welfare officers and veterinary doctors, responded swiftly and took the matter seriously, visiting the site without delay.

The accused was brought to the location by police and remained there under supervision while evidence was collected. A court case is now expected to follow.
