Darren Carabott has been reappointed as Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Security, while continuing his role as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Carabott has held both positions previously, with his work in the PAC earning recognition for holding government spending to account and strengthening parliamentary scrutiny.

His reappointment underlines the trust placed in him as a young yet influential voice within the Nationalist Party.

Carabott’s continued presence in the Shadow Cabinet comes as Alex Borg, newly appointed Leader of the Opposition, announced his team of Shadow Ministers tasked with presenting an alternative vision for Malta and Gozo.

Alongside Carabott, other key appointments include Adrian Delia, who now serves as Shadow Minister for Finance after previously overseeing Health, and former party leader Bernard Grech, who has been entrusted with Capital Projects and Infrastructure.

Borg emphasised that the Shadow Cabinet represents “serious, responsible, and visionary leadership.”
