Daphne Caruana Galizia Would Have Turned 62 Years Old Today

Daphne Caruana Galizia would have turned 62 years old today.
The journalist, who was assassinated on October 16th, 2017 at the age of 53, would be celebrating her 62nd birthday with her loved ones today, the 26th of August.
The anti-corruption activist, blogger and journalist was internationally known for her investigation of the Panama Papers, as well as being a loving mother and wife.
Taking to social media, activist Alessandra Dee Crespo posted a tribute to Daphne, writing:
‘She came into the world as the firstborn daughter of Rose and Michael Vella, just 26 days before Malta itself became independent. There is something fitting in that: independence of mind would become one of the defining qualities of her life.’
‘Her assassination ended her life, but it did not bury the truths she uncovered, extinguish the questions she asked or silence the demand for justice’, she added. ‘Above all, let us not look away. Daphne certainly did not.’
‘We remember not only how Daphne died, but how fully she lived. We hold her family close. And we continue, not out of hatred or vengeance, but with truth, decency and dignity, until justice is done.’
The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation and Justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia also posted a tribute.
‘Daphne’s life was taken from her at the age of 53. She would have turned 62 today. That’s 9 years without spending time with her loved ones, 9 years without doing her important investigative work, 9 years without her beloved garden, 9 years without enjoying all of her different interests.’
‘And 9 years without full justice for her assassination or the change that Malta needs.’
Rest in peace Daphne.
