The visit formed part of the ongoing dialogue between the two sides on innovation, clean technology development and the transition towards greener, more sustainable economies.

During the mission, MEP Attard held high-level discussions with the Mayor of Seoul, the Governor of Gyeonggi Province and members of the Korean National Assembly’s Transport Committee. Talks centred on how policy and technology can complement each other to deliver efficient, accessible and low-emission transport systems, particularly in expanding urban areas.

The delegation also visited the Future Mobility Centre, where they were shown the latest innovations in autonomous vehicle technology.

Another key meeting was held with Airbus representatives to explore the future of sustainable aviation, with a particular focus on alternative fuels — a key area of interest in MEP Attard’s work within the European Parliament’s Transport and Tourism Committee.

“The message was consistent throughout,” said MEP Attard. “Efficient transport means reduced pollution, cleaner air and an improved quality of life. Our goal is to learn from effective practices abroad and adapt them to European contexts, especially in island regions such as Malta, where reliable connectivity is vital.”
